Lissabon is de grote en vriendelijke hoofdstad van Portugal. De oude gele trams zijn mooi, maar vergeet niet de vele bars, de lekkere eiertaartjes (@ Porte de Belém) en lokale muziek. Het is een beetje heuvelachtig, maar een echt hoogtepunt.
Porto is de tweede grootste stad van Portugal en bekend om zijn wijn ('Port'). De Douru (een rivier en vallei ten oosten van Porto) is het oudste wijngebied ter wereld.
Fatima is een bedevaartsoord voor christenen nadat kinderen Maria ca. 100 jaar geleden.
Faro is de hoofdstad van de Algarve, het meest zuidelijke deel van Portugal met interessante kliffen en strandleven.
Coimbra is een voormalige hoofdstad en de 4e grootste stad van Portugal. De universiteit wordt door veel toeristen bezocht vanwege de monumenten en geschiedenis. De historische gebouwen werden door UNESCO geclassificeerd als werelderfgoed.
Het Atlantische eiland Madeira, met hoofdstad Funchal, is het hele jaar door een populaire badplaats en wordt jaarlijks bezocht door ongeveer 1,4 miljoen toeristen, bijna vijf keer het aantal inwoners.
De Douro-vallei is een zeer schilderachtige vallei en de thuisbasis van een van de oudste wijngaarden ter wereld. De Douro vinhateiro (wijngaard) is door UNESCO aangewezen als werelderfgoed.
