Athene is de hoofdstad van Griekenland. Het stadscentrum wordt gedomineerd door de Akropolis, tempelruïnes uit de 5e eeuw.

Santorini is waarschijnlijk het beroemdste eiland in de zuidelijke Egeïsche Zee en is het overblijfsel van een vulkanische caldera. Het is zeer pittoresk en zeer goed bezocht door toeristen.

Mykonos wordt ook wel het eiland van de wind genoemd. Dit kan de aanwezigheid van windmolens verklaren. Het is ook een druk feesteiland.

Delphi staat bekend om het orakel dat in de oudheid raad gaf.

De Meteora is een rotsformatie in centraal Griekenland en herbergt een van de grootste en meest steil gebouwde complexen van oosters-orthodoxe kloosters. Kalambaka is de stad.

Kreta is het grootste en meest bevolkte van de Griekse eilanden. Hoofdstad is Heraklion.

Olympia staat erom bekend dat het in de klassieke oudheid de locatie was van de Olympische Spelen. Ze werden elke vier jaar gehouden van de 8e eeuw voor Christus tot de 4e eeuw na Christus.

Het eiland Zakynthos is een toeristische bestemming met de bijnaam "de Bloem van de Levant".
