Maun is de toeristische hoofdstad van Botswana. Alle bussen en jeeps die van / naar Namibië, Victoria Falls en Okavango Delta komen, passeren hier. Stamleden mogen hun vee hier nog steeds verkopen.

De Makgadikgadi Pan is een van de grootste zoutvlakten ter wereld. Makgadikgadi is technisch gezien niet één pan, maar veel pannen met daartussen een zandwoestijn.
