The Philippines is a large group of islands with approx. 100 million people of whom many are poor. The country has excellent beaches, great water adventures and magnificent rice fields. English is widely spoken. Unfortunately it is also struck by Typhoons regularly and is battling Islamic extremist in the Southern provinces (e.g. Mindanao ~ dangerous). Christianity is truly celebrated here.
Bohol Island, easy accessible from Cebu City, can be a destination for a day or a week, with Chocolate Hills, tarsiers (tiny Primates), Beaches and Resorts.
